Actually you can be paid one of two ways:

The most common is being paid twice a month. It is on the 1st and the 15th UNLESS one of these days fall on a weekend, in which case you will be paid on the Friday before that day. Example: If the 15th is on Sunday I would actually get my mid-month pay on Friday th 13th. This method of payment is basic for the military and is what you will receive when you first join.

The other option ( and least used) is to elect to receive your entire pay on the first of the month.

You get paid twice a month, the first and the fifteenth; but your les will  be more detailed on the first of the month letting you know your monthly earnings, leaves accured, allotments and all that good stuff.
