  1. ANTIME you have a Hernia ; it IS Serious .....

Get something done IMMEDIATELY or you will regret it !!

  2. Well it really depends. I'm guessing you mean an inguinal (groin) hernia. If you don't already know what hernia is medically, it's where a weakened spot in your abdominal wall allows a bowel or intestine/fat to slip down into your groin/scrotal area but you probably already no this.

So is it really serious? Well it all depends. I had a left inguinal hernia this last year. This is what the doctor told me. Basically, the only thing that makes a hernia serious is the possibility of stragulation. This could possibly occur when the hernia slips down (as you may have seen they slip up and down depending on what your doing, lifting, straining, etc.) and cuts off circulation to part of your t******l, meaning it could kill the tissue, which would not be good. Basically the doctor told me if I could tolerate it I could probably live with it cause unless it slips down and stays down, it really is more just an inconvenience than anything serious. Basically he told me I could do the surgery whenever I wanted too. I opted to do it as soon as possible  because it did bother me when running and lifting and stuff.

So as long as it doesn't stay down all the time it's probably not serious, if it does and you can't get it to go back up (by lying down, pu, than go to the pushing on it, ect.) then go to the ER immediately. If I were you I would get the surgery done. It's a quick surgery, the only thing that sucks is that you'll be out for a couple weeks. The first week hurts the worst, but its not horrible.

Btw, a hernia is not caused by anything you do. It's most always a genetic weakness in your abdominal wall. Lifting something heavy doesn't really cause it, it just might have made it happen faster. If it was going to happen it would have happened sometime (that's what the doctor told me). But yeah just get the surgery, it's the best way to solve the problem.
