  1. Mine does 2 unless something warrants another one. They do one at 7 weeks to date the pregnancy and one at 22 weeks to get measurements. I also had one at 9 weeks because i got really sick. It just depends on the circumstances. It also depends on how many your insurance will pay for. Most cover 2 but I know there are some that will only cover 1 unless it's a medical necessity.

  2. I had one at eight weeks, and another at ten because of heavy bleeding (baby was ok!). I may end up having another before the 20 week one, because of the bleeding. Normally its only two though.

  3. Every visit, 10. I live in Mexico and I pay the doctor in cash, they dont do the insurance thing so $40 each time and she always puts it on to see how big my baby is growing.

  4. generally insurance will pay for 2 ultrasounds which is why there are 2 done unless there is a need for more to be done for diagnostic purposes. tho some insurance companies only pay for one.

for some reason (maybe because of insurance coverage) my doctor does one at every visit which seems odd to me and i have never heard of another doctor doing them at every visit.

  5. i have heard its only 2 or 3 but my doctor does one to me every time i go, i guess it depends on the doctor cause i have a normal healthy pregnancy

  6. well i had 5 altogather but the first one i was 8 wks and 4 days b/c i was high risk cus i had 2 miscarrages before that and then she gave me one and 18 weeks and 4 days and i found out it was a boy then i didnt get another one untill i was 37 weeks pregnant just to check up on him and then another one at 39 1/2 weeks b/c i was measuring almost 4 weeks small but everything was great he was just a lil small 6lbs and 5 oz!! he is 4 monthsold now

  7. That's pretty normal.  There's no reason to do them anymore than that.  I've known people who've had only one.  I had one at 7 weeks, but that was due to bleeding (they wanted to make sure I wasn't having an M/C).  I had the normal one around 20 weeks, and I had another at 32 weeks (to check positioning).  I have another one next week but that is because at my last one, he was breech and Dr. needs to see if he turns.  So unless there's reason for concern, 2 is perfectly fine and normal.

  8. 1-2 is the normal amount. I'm having 5 [I've had 4 so far, one more next week] only because my son is measuring significantly bigger. And they wanna keep check on his weight. But most doctors will so a internal early on, and then the anatomy scan around 18-22 weeks.

  9. This is my first pregnancy.  I have had quite a few ultra sounds because if my doctor couldn't hear the heart beat on the Doppler he would find it on the u/s machine.  He had to find the heart beat 3-4 times via u/s in the first 4 months of my pregnancy. Then between 22-25 weeks I saw the u/s tech, she couldn't determine 100% if i was having a girl so she ordered my 2nd u/s with her. Then my doctor ordered my 3rd u/s with the tech to measure baby at 30wks, and my last one was at 34 weeks also to measure baby. No more since then.  I am 40wks 3days now

  10. yes my doctor also told me that they do only two sonograms. One at the beginning of the pregnancy and the other at the middle of the pregnancy,,they would only do more than twice if they see that you have a problem and they need to see..otherwise they only do two..

  11. Yep, it's usually about twice because that's all your insurance will pay for unless there is something WRONG. The earlier you do the first one, the more accurate the due date will be. And then they do one about 5 to 6 months when you can get a guestimation of the baby's gender. The first time you get 2 pics and the second time you get 4. Do NOT laminate as it will turn the pictures black and those are something you want to cherish and put in the babys photo album.

  12. YES IT IS NORMAL BUT FOR ME I WAS BEING CHECKED EVERY OTHER WEEK BECAUSE OF PROBLEMS

  13. Only once for me... at 18 weeks.

  14. well my first pregnancy was twins and i was high risk, i got them weekly and sometimes more!.. This pregnancy I have had 2 and im 15 weeks, one at my fist app. and then i had some tenderness and spotting so they did another a week ago. The next will be at 20 weeks and then one at 37weeks to measure the fluid around the baby. She said she only does 3 routine ultrasounds, more if there is a reason for concern. Some dr's only do one at 20 weeks. Two is the standards it seems though

  15. 2!

One at 10 weeks to cross-check the due date, see how things are, etc...

One at 20 weeks to get all the measurements, check for anything wrong, and I was able to find out the gender then.

If there are concerns, you can get them more.  Some doctors dont do the 10 week one.

  16. Yes thats normal unless you are high risk . I am high risk due to my age and have had ultrasounds every week for the past 3 weeks . I think a lot of it is your Insurance will only pay for so many .

  17. I get one every time I go for an appointment. My doctor also does 3-D every time I go in. I think that's because she like to look at babies and is retiring with in the next year. Most other people that I know only get about 2 through the whole thing. It's normal!

  18. my first one they did because of a scare and that one was a transvaginal one (inside the vag) and she is doing another one at 21 wks. normally 2 is the number with most.

  19. they do them twice.  Once at the beginning and once around 18-22 weeks, which is when you find out the s*x of the baby.  When they do the one at 18-22 weeks they will take measurements and things to make sure that you are as far along as they thought.  If there is any reason for them to believe that they baby is not growing at the correct rate, they will do another one at your next appt.  Most insurance companies only cover 2 ultrasounds, unless they are medically necessary.  Some dr's will do extra ultrasounds if you ask them, but you will have to pay the 110 or whatever out of pocket.  Its your insurance company that keeps the block on the amount of ultra sounds you can have, they will only pay for 2 unless medically necessary for you to have another.

  20. i would say 2 unless there is sumthing wrong like a high risk pregnancy.i had my first at 13 weeks and my last is on monday which is my 20th week to find out the s*x of the child.congrats on the pregnancy.

  21. 2x with both pregnancies. The only people I know that have gotten more had a few complications. also, if you dont know your last missed period they will do an ultrasound to determine a due date.(which would make 3 ultrasounds for some). But Usually just One around 12weeks and 1 at 20weeks.

  22. i got my first ultrasound at 8wks pregnant. and then the second one was at 12wks, i will have my big ultrasound on my 21wks of pregnancy.  but dont freak out if the first ultrasound is done with a vaginal sonogram cus it the baby is not that high they cant see the baby with a regular ultrasound.  congrats

  23. i got 3... 2 or 3 is the norm

  24. as long as your having a non complicated pregnancy it is very normal!! congrats!!

  25. I got 2. One was and internal and one was external. Thats usually normal unless there are medical reasons for more.
