such as start wars in the name of god, shoot abortionists, prevent stem cell research, or bash g*y people?

Yes, this question is loaded. Not like it is the first and don't bother saying Hitler or Stalin were Atheists...we've seen that pathetic excuse before.

  1. I eat kittens

  2. Hey, Bowen - He can ask whatever he likes.  So can you.

All of us are capable of atrocious behavior if we choose to listen and act on that side of ourselves, irrespective of our belief structure.  English girl asked a good related question earlier about sadistic mindfulness.

  3. Hitler and Stalin are pathetic excuses now?

Anyway, I'm with ya!  Hitler and Stalin are pathetic excuses!  Don't use history against me you religious people with all your wacky excuses!

    I'm Atheist!

  4. You're not helping. Please, stop.

  5. I agree that this isn't really helping....

  6. I was confused. I thought you were bashing Atheists. And it didn't make sense. Anyways, not all Christians do these things either. (The majority probablly don't.) And I hate Christianity, so I'm not even biased. Its just the small number of extremists that make people look bad.

  7. Just look at the human rights abuses of religion-hating, Atheist government China. They happen now. Some religious wars were  very long ago history.

  8. I'm going to be nice, and say that you probably aren't a typical atheist, because you're not helping their cause.

  9. People do terrible things, whether they're athiest, catholic, or if they worship friggen bunnies. What religion you are (or aren't) doesn't really matter in the long run. People are violent and cruel, and they just use religion as an excuse to carry out terrible things. It's human nature.

  10. Yeah yeah, you guys are so sweet I think I'm gonna puke.

  11. In answer to your question, I would say about as often as religious people. The Falklands war was started by two women one of whom is the spiritual head of her country - Queen Elizabeth.  Before you monarchists have an apopletic fit you should know that under the British Constitution only the reigning monarch has the authority to declare war on another country.  In this case it  was on the advice of her Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.  I can't say for sure but I think Maggie Thatcher might even be an atheist.

  12. I've read Mien Kampf and some Hitler sayings; He was obviously a Catholic.

  13. One might ask how often religious zealots have commited attrocities,

two moments in time come to mind - the crusades and the genocide of the cathars - but its ok if your catholic LOL

  14. I think if the first answer was different you would have got less animosity.

I would guess that on the whole that religion has been used as an excuse a lot more times than other things to kill people, but probably not that many more.

And people who bash g**s don't usually seem that religious. They're usually teenage boys who've had a few and are bored shitless and would probably bash anyone else on the flimsiest excuse. Some of them i would bet are probably even athiest, well, if they could pronounce the word.

  15. We don't waste out time with such foolishness.  We leave all that to those who think being dipped in wawa will make them safe from what I have no idea, but they sure do get things in a twisted mess and all sorts of battles are caused because they can't decide who has the best sky hawk or something like that.

  16. Uh, Atheists can't start wars in the name of God, because in their minds, God doesn't exist? ;D

So that would mean they're starting a war in nonexistence.

and anyways, people do bad things. It doesn't matter if they're Muslim, Christian, Mormon, Scientologists, etc..

    Everyone does "atrocious" things. =)

  17. Do the math. Count all the people who were ever killed by religious fanatics and then count all the people killed by atheists. Historically speaking the atheists are much bloodier.

  18. No one knows.  To say that an atheist never does anything atrocious is like saying someone never takes a c**p.  The problem is that atheism isn't something that you check on a description box.  Plus people would put the religion of their parents down, to please them even though they could really careless.  As for the media, it is news worthy and ironic for a good christian to do something bad.

    __

As for Hitler and Stalin, people say that they weren't because they were RAISED in the church. Well plenty of atheists were RAISED in the church; at least that is what they say.  Maybe they weren't ( I think Hitler was an opportunist), still the explanation that they were raised in a church is a bit weak, in my opinion.

  19. Not to mention the missionaries....

  20. i'm sorry, but when nutcases shoot people or cause harm to anyone, the last thing i think about is "what religion was he/she?" your argument is weak. and i don't hate atheists that much that i sit back and look at all the evil in this world and try to pin a majority of it on them. why don't you get a life?

  21. Hitler wasn't an atheist, he is what the Christians would refer to as a pagan. The n***s had their own religion revolving around sun-worship, the whole Aryan race thing.

  22. some atheists do atrocious things. are you saying that atheists are always good and never do anything bad?

besides not all religious people do outrageous stuff. now that's just generalizing. Only the people that start wars or fights go on TV. Nobody talks about all the religious people that don't do anything bad.

Saying that atheists never do anything bad is like saying all blond's are stupid (which isn't true) and all Asians eat dog (which is also not true).

By the way I'm atheist and I've done a lot of things which i am not proud of and really regret.

  23. same amount as Christians ,cept the war for god

  24. um they dont believe in a God ... why would they start wars in his name

    I am sure somewhere

" some " have done some of the other things you have mentioned though

you seem to think that all atheists are the same and have some sort of rules to follow
