Do people refuse? It seems a little communist-like and promotes xenophobia to European eyes.

  1. i graduated in 02 and i did it every day in my school in new york.  starting in high school actually they just read it over the loudspeaker and most people didnt even stand.

  2. us primary school students every day (morning assembly)

what pisses me off is that we in the UK don't celebrate our country for fear of upsetting the muslims and poles. if they want to come and infest our country they have to realise it is OUR COUNTRY and live with OUR PATRIOTISM

  3. No i dont say it i respect my country thou...listen to it...

    i pledge alligiance

    to the flag

of the united states of america

and to the republic for which it stands

    one nation

    under God

    indivisable

with liberty and justice for all

does this sound militant and brainwashing to little kids..besides most of the time you dont really understand it especially first graders saying it...i always imagine this is something that hitler made little german boys do for germany..but like i said i respect my nation.

  4. In many public schools (especially with grades 1-8), students still pledge allegiance to the flag every morning.  High schools often don't simply as a scheduling issue if they don't have "home room" classes.  In all cases, students are not required to pledge since it is contrary to their religions in some cases.  They are allowed to sit or stand quietly while the others pledge.

  5. Where I am, we don't do it anymore. I'm sure most of the kids here now don't even know the pledge. And you can refuse to say it, but i think out of respect you should at least stand.

  6. We said it every morning during announcements from first grade until  I graduated high school. Honestly, it's just something you do that you don't really even think of because it's a daily thing. You can refuse, which is one of the great things about America, but I never have seen anybody have a problem with it in my school. I don't think it's communist-like, just a form of patriotism for us.
