I just started at Walgreens and I want to know if anyone who has worked for them or any similar business knows how often these screenings occur.

  1. At the stores I've managed, I have had random drug screenings about once every year, maybe a little less.

However, on some of the random drug screenings, they don't test everybody in the store.  For example, when they came a couple months ago, they only wanted to test store management and pharmacy employees.  Also, even when they do test everybody, they generally only test the people who are working at the time the drug screener walks thru the front door.  So they don't literally screen everybody on the store's payroll and they usually won't screen employees whose shifts start after they've already arrived and started the screenings.

Basically, some man/woman comes to the store at a random date/time.  They set up all their c**p in the breakroom or training room.  Then they take employees back one by one to the bathrooms to get a urine sample.  Although they don't stand in the stall with you, they do various things to prevent fraud.  Like pouring dyes into the water.  Taping off the urinal so you can't use it.  Etc. Etc.  When they're all done, they take their little urine samples with them and then they are sent to a lab for screening.  Results typically come back within a week or so.
