  1. Agree with Mr B, and don't forget about auto-rotation either - a helo can be landed safely even if the engine stops in flight (a rotor generates lift even when it isn't powered).

  2. At least as often as the go up....Don't really understand your question !!!

  3. whenever they need fuel

  4. If you mean crash, not very often.  They have an excellent hours flown to accident record.  In fact, the Bell 206 helicopter is one of the safest aircraft in the world, fixed wing or helicopter.

Accidents in helicopters statistically are also more survivable, generally due to their lower speed.  Injuries tend to be less severe.  You can put a helicopter down almost anywhere if a problem comes up.  You don't need a runway.

  5. I assume helicopers go down as often as they go up.

  6. Do you mean maintenance? The old, reliable Huey (the chopper in the Nam) needed a lot of routine overhaul at 1,200 hours. The high-powered Blackhawk needs a daily inspection of the rotary blades. Choppers are rated in measures like 5 hours maintenance for every hour of flight time.

  7. every time they go up.

  8. every time they land
