  1. You should only bath your dog about once a month, and only use pure soap or a dog shampoo so it wont irritate the skin (human shampoos are highly dangerous to dogs, even baby shampoos). If the poo is getting stuck to the fur, trim the hair and when it is stuck try just washing its bum or using baby wet wipes to get it off.

  2. once every two weeks at the most there skin will get to dry if you bathe them often

  3. Dogs rarely need baths more frequently than once a month.  It strips their skin of necessary oils.

But if he is having "accidents" you can bathe just his rear in between.

  4. We have a dog that is half poodle and half ShihTzu and he has the same problem with p**p getting stuck to his butt.

If you bathe them too often, the skin will get dry and itchy. It is best to try to keep his fur trimmed short on his butt. It it gets poopy, just wash that part but not the whole dog each time. I would say you shouldn't bathe him more than once a month if possible.

Also our dog has recurrent ear infections because of dampness in there. Our vet said to keep the inside of the ears clear of hair which tends to trap moisture.

  5. If the puppy's p**p is getting stuck on his fur, then it is not solid enough, meaning he is sick. Or maybe you just got him and have recently switched his food. Don't bathe your dog more than once a week. He has oils in his skin that keep it moist. A dry-skinned dog is an itchy dog. For the p**p that gets stuck on his fur, honestly, I'd just take scissors to the fur with p**p on it. Eventually, the fur that is susceptible to getting p**p on it won't be there, and you won't have this problem. And hopefully soon, puppy starts pooping solid.

  6. Have groomer trim the hair around his rear end so p**p won't stick to it.

  7. you should get a puppy cut.  they trim around the paws,  the butt so no poo gets on it and  around eyes .

  8. Once every 2 weeks, just clean the area that is always dirty with a wet and clean hand towel with a little soap. If you bathe the pup frequently, its skin might loose its natural oils that make its skin healthy.

  9. Most dogs need a bath roughly once a month.  You can do local 'butt baths' as needed until he gets trimmed in that area.

  10. My vet said you can bathe your dog whatever time just make sure to brush him always I bathe my shih tzu pup twice a week

  11. i'm a groomer so yeah get his butt cleaned by a groomer, be sure to wash him with oatmeal shampoo its good for his skin

  12. ok i have had three shihtzus. dont stress. when they are babies and in a new enviornment, they will most likely get the poops. they are still adapting. take them to your vet and have them checked for worms or a stomach virus. being with new people and away from the mommy is very stressful for a baby, so spend as much time with ur new puppy as u possibly can. try switching foods too. i gave mine softer food and it was a difference in the p**p. as for a bath i give mine one every week. make sure u brush them immediately before AND after the bath to keep them from getting matted,i use baby shampoo b/c its gentle on the puppy. if u have any questions feel free to ask we are breeding ours so i have looked alot of things up and may be able to help u, hope this helped.

  13. You should get a grommer to cut his fur shorter!!
