  1. Have you taken your dog to the vet at all, or is it a new dog? Either way, once the dog has visited the vet once you should receive notices in the mail for when their next checkup is due. Usually shots are annually (once a year) but Rabies vaccinations can be good for 1, 3, or 5 years depending on which treatment you get.

If all else fails, call your vet. Shots are very important and shouldn't be missed :)

  2. Not to be rude  or insensitive  but  if you own a dog the question should be directed to your Vet and not the internet.

Next  part would be is the dog an adult or a puppy?    Puppies need  shots  various times over the 1st year of life.   I would strongly suggest to make an appointment at the Vet's  for a check up and he or she will thoroughly go just what your dog/puppy will need.

It all depends on the history of the dog.   If  he or she has gotten shots already,  what shots  they were and how frequently they need to be administered due to weight change in the dog.

If  the dog has been well cared for and you have him/her as an adult your shots will have be administered according to the laws of your particular state for Rabies.  Distemper  is repeated every year.

It is serious business to keep your dog vaccinated at the right times or you could be looking at a very sick dog in your future and allot of expense that could be avoided.

Your best  resource  is  your Vet  and there are various  places on the internet sponsored by Vets  to answer your questions.

Take care of your  buddy and he will be your long time companion.

  3. There is a very good source of information on vaccinations here on yahoo.com Groups.  Go to "The Truth about Vaccinations" group and you will learn much about what is necessary, when, and how often.  Vets all over the world are changing their protocols.  Here are two other good sites:

    http://www.critteradvocacy.org/

    http://drkimberly-dvm.com/html/vaccines....

  4. They should get the combo (parvovirus, adenovirus-2 (hepatitis vaccine), and distemper) vaccination yearly; and the rabies shot every 3 years (after their very first one which lasts only 1 year) . Your vet will usually send you a reminder stating which shots they need to get.

  5. Once a year, but if you  have already been to the vets they will send a reminder
