I have been pumping every four to five hours fifteen minutes on each breast and been getting about seven ounces. Is this good enough to keep up my supply? will it be enough for when my daughter drinks four ounces? Also is a bm at almost every diaper change ok?

  1. The more often you pump, the more milk you will produce. I pumped every two the three hours and found myself extremely tired because I had no time to rest. By the time I finished pumping, fed the baby, changed him after every bottle, did a couple of things around the house, I felt like it was time to pump again.

I think every three to four hours is good, because you want to account for a missed or late pump.  If you begin producing too much, you can always store it in the freezer so someone else can feed the baby and you only have to pump.

Having a BM at every diaper change is normal for a breastfed baby.

  2. you're doing good on the pump...

and if your baby is really young, then a bm in every change is totally normal. as they grow older, the number of bm per day decreases.

    good luck :)
