  1. I find that tomatoes can enjoy a steady supply of water if they are grown in a hot sunny climate. I have a hose set to drip slowly on a big plant of cherry tomatoes that I have. It will wilt easily but as long as the soil drains well, the tomato likes the wet feet. The largest tomato that i ever grew was a 'volunteer' plant that sprouted next to an outdoor shower when we lived in Costa Rica, it got water from our showers every day and grew HUGE. It made so many tomatoes that we couldn't eat them all.

  2. I water mine when I see the edge of the leaves slightly start to curl....Do not water them every day they will get root rot and a few other fungal diseases..My plants I have been picking tomatoes from for 2 moths at least..some of my plants are 6 and 7 feet tall...

  3. If you haven't planted them in the ground outside in a sunny spot - it can take nearly forever.

I start mine inside in march, and plant them out in May.  There are a few I still have in the starter pots.  They look about the same as they did a month ago (about 6-8 inches high), whereas the ones outside in the ground are 2-3 feet tall, and setting fruit.

If you don't have good rain, water well twice a week.

  4. I water mine every other day.  How long it takes depends on the variety.  It can be anytime between 55-75 days.

The first poster must not have used a good potting mix.  I put my seedlings outside in May in containers and they are all 3 feet fall and flowering and 2 plants have little tomatoes on them.

  5. Tomatoes grow best at 85F with warm, moist soil.  Keep them out of the wind, allow at least six hours of good direct sun and within two months they will start growing fruit. If it gets too hot for too long the plants wilt and blossoms drop

  6. fiveto seven weeks  depending on your zonehttp://gardening-tips-idea.com/Tomato-ga...
