How often do people escape police custody?

Once I saw a guy break out of a police car in front of my house WITH THE COP STILL IN IT and he got away. They didn't notice for about 45 seconds, plenty of time for him to get outta sight.

Cops, helicopters, dogs, the whole nine yards combed the streets for a few hours. Best part? It never made the news. He had FREEZER bags of drugs, but got away!

Hard question to answer.  Pretty rare in my area.  Say.....5%?  And that is just initially.  Usually the suspect is known enough to get more information and pick them up within a week or so after.
