Wouldn't you feel guilty if you let your child in someone's else house for long periods of time? I know I would. I would feel empty if I didn't see my kids after school.

  1. My kids almost have playdates at least one day every weekend.  During the week..not so much because of homework

  2. Anytime she has free time. But we have playdates at our house just as much as she goes over to friends houses.  She is an only child, so I like to let her have lots of playdates.

  3. When we have playdates, the parents sit and talk while the kids play, and sometimes we all play games together.  Our oldest is 5, so they're still at the age when they want to be with us.  So we're not really losing quality time with him, we're just mixing it up a little!

  4. as often as possible. I think kids grow and learn better from being with other children.

  5. I feel the same way!! but as the saying goes

you give you child two things roots to grow and wing to fly.

  6. Each of my kids have playdates multiple times a week, often at our house and sometimes at their friends' houses.  Unless it is for the (rare) sleepover, I would always pick up my kid after 1-2 hours from someone else's house, because I think longer than that is overtiring for my kids and overtaxing to the hosting parent.  I do, of course, see my kids even if they go to a playdate for a couple of hours, because they'll be home for homework, dinner, conversation, and read-alouds.  Though of course I like to see them after school, I wouldn't want to deprive them of time with friends just because I particularly like having them around the house.

  7. We only really have proper playdates with really good friends and then we take it turns to have each other's kids over, sometimes the adults go as well, just for some free food and a good gossip!
