  1. This question actually cannot be answered correctly untill we know what type of shrubs..here in Florida we have some you shouldn't water but once a month and some need it daily in this hot sun...it totally depends..what type of shrubs are you talking about?

  2. Here's a number of posts that will detail watering needs for various times of year for your shrubs.

  3. The trick is to keep them moist but not overwatered.  Check the soil with your finger down about an inch or so if it is moist don't water, when it is starting to dry out water.  You will develop a pattern and you won't need to check.

When you water water well not lightly, this causes surface rooting and uses more water.  Mulch with hay or chip to cut down on water use,  also keeps the soil warm in winter and cool in summer.  How much you water will depend on where you live and the season.  in my area we have winter rainfall and unless it is very dry I don't water at all, once the plants are established.

  4. When they are young, most shrubs prefer a lot of water. Once established, you should give at least an inch of water during the growth season when it does not rain. Certain shrubs will always prefer extra water, such as hydrangea.
