How often do you think of the Ozone, and Global warming? Does it concern you?

We hear about it now and then, but when it's not in the news it stops being a focus of attention. I don't know, I'm concerned and worried about it, but I guess sometimes you just feel so powerless to do anything.

How about You?

now do you think that china will control there CO2 output even if they sign a treaty to.

this is why the government of the US has trouble with treaties on CO2 output.

we will lower ours and china will raise there's treaty be dammed

the tree huggers slow down on there global warming campaign whenever the weather is not right.

but they will be back in the summer when it warms up

  2. Concerned of course.Am very worried, we are detroing our natural "home"

  3. no... i seldom think about it, but yes, u could do ur part by simply sticking a note on ur refrigerator door and AC switches which reads " remember, using me frequently would deprive the next generation of a safe and beautiful planet!"

  4. I think about it quite a lot recently, as I see so much misinformation here at Yahoo! Answers.  I just spent an hour giving a thorough answer that I was pleased with, and it somehow vanished.  {sigh}  I'll re-type as much as I can from memory.

Yes, it concerns me quite a bit -- both the climate change and the public ignorance/confusion.  Much of the latter (and in fact, the former) seems to be thanks to the American Petroleum Institute and ExxonMobil, but skepticism is also due to understandable public distrust in politicians, some of whom also speak on the subject.  Overzealous politician-haters then cry "conspiracy."  But in this case, those politicians have science on their side.

I'm no expert, but I do my homework on matters of importance to me, and have found quite a lot of credible science-oriented Web pages on the subject.  (If you care to, you'll find links at some of my recent answers.)  Though the debate may not be over, there's enough consensus among scientists for me to take preventive action in my own life and home, especially given how easily and inexpensively that can be done, and the potential benefits.

True, there's not enough steady attention to this matter in the general media.  Especially on TV news, where they're too busy giving up-to-the-minute reports on Britney Spears and Natalee Holloway to bother with something as trivial as the environment we depend on for our lives!  Ironically, some celebrities support educating the public, as well, but their media ubiquity causes so much irritation with some people (like me) that I wonder whether they hurt more than help the cause.

Keep spreading the word.  You're right to be concerned.  If the oil-industry-propagandized parrots drown out the voices of scientists, we may all be in grave danger.  Some people are too ignorant of the power humans have -- both to repair and destroy our environment -- to realize they should be grateful that some of us care.

And to show you some things you can do, for those times when you feel powerless, here's a useful Web page by the Union of Concerned Scientists, on ten actions you can take.

  5. Typical couch potato question brainwashed by infectious Dangerous gutter media out of control. look at all the inquisitive frightened people on this site alone asking questions because the brainwashing power of manipulating media has got to their minds well and truly. It could be it could be not! Remember the Millennium bug it was there last cracker caper! Mate ask that question to you favourite media exploiter like your favourite television fear monger station or radio station. Hop on their Internet site sir and see what amazing kits and p**p they sell, then the maze of rubbish sites; follow on sites where you can buy more c**p imaginable and empty out your credit card in the process. Man will destroy the earth and all animal life in due time will come to pass with only room for man. He will over populate, keep on killing as some fool always wants to play Hitler to be front page news. He is his own worst enemy and there again the earth has been about for millions of years and will be about for millions more until man destroys it. The earth has devoured the dinosaurs; it will eventually devour man and the cockroach will be the earths soul survivor WHY! Because the cockroach doesn't manipulate fear nor spreads it like a disease like man does.

  6. the earth will die someday and so will humn race so yeah i'm not too worried.

  7. Ozone is two different problems, and only very indirectly related to Global warming.

The hole in the Ozone layer is now healing due to concerted inteernational action called the Montreal Protocol http://ozone.unep.org/

Ozone at ground level is a different problem. mostly due to car exaust reacting in sunlight and is local and temporary

Climate change (global warming) is only one symptom of our unsustainable society dependent on increasing amounts of finite resources. Water, phosphorus(fertiliser), oil, metals, fish, wildlife, soil eroision are all reaching critial points, but human demand  & aspiration keeps on growing.

So my real concern is can we change our society into a life sustaining one in time? http://www.greatturningtimes.org
