How often does Beresford, SD get tornadoes? Is my friend in danger?

My friend just moved there in November. I called her last week and there was already a twister in another part of Beresford. Will she be alright. She's only 13.

I don't know if it has ever been hit.  In any given year, the chance is very very small, though not zero.  I checked records, and I do not see a report of a tornado in Beresford recently, though there was at least one reported a little to the northeast of that town over extreme northwestern Iowa on the 1st.

Chances are if one tornado already plowed thru the small town, then another tornado probably won't anytime soon.

But you never know...   June is peak season for svr wx up there.

Yeah, she will be fine and yes, it is the stormy season for tornadoes during spring.
