  1. 365/24/7 for the past 2 years

  2. I have worked on board various yachts and to tell you the truth it depends on the owner. I have been on a yacht where they practically lived on board. The others are mostly used anywhere from three weeks to twenty weeks a year. Now if they charter then they are booked almost constantly.

You also have to factor in maintenance, seasons, type of vessel.

  3. Ours is a 30' "Sea Otter" (see the Sea Otter Boats web site) canal boat in the UK.

She's moored in a Marina about an hour from where we live and December, January, February, we probably only visit once to a month to check that the dehumidifier is working and everything AOK.

Then apart from when we are out of the Country, we visit most weekends (sleep on board overnight) - take her out for lunch sometimes and take visitors who are curious about canal boats.  On top of that, we take her to a couple of boat festivals a year - approx 2 weeks a time.

Otherwise, we mostly use her as a Country Cottage.  Just a nice place to weekend.

  4. Hi B..O...

We my wife and I Live in florida.  Now we had a seafix 21ft deep v  which was for going out into the gulf. We had it two years and used it about 6 times... not many hey ... but when we wanted to go out it was too rought etc.

We recently bought an oldie for the rivers and lakes.  We go out at least once a week for all day.

It really depends on where you  are and access to rivers and lakes

Also depends if you like fishing or cruising....  I know this as soon as you get a boat  wave your money good bye...  LOL..

It can cost a lot to run them...  The sea fox held 101 gallons... ( $310 dollars to fill)....   then insurance,  Luckliy  we bought it out right so didnt have payment,,,

The small boat uses about 8 gallons for a full day . so thats  $24 dollars+ oil  + gas for the truck+ food  water and to drink bait for fishing..  Befor you know it you have spent $50-100 dollars for the day.  Thats what governs how often people use their boats.

  5. Depends on what the boat is used for. I work on a tugboat and there is a full crew (10 people) on the boat 24/7 365. Comercial Fisherman also use there boats everyday, some don't work on Sundays and if the weather doesn't permit they can't work. And then you have the leisure boat owners who may only take there boat out on weekends or holidays. It's all in what the boat is for, Work or Play. Hope this helps.

  6. Up here on Lake Ontario....3-5 hours each time...3 times a week...for 7 months (mid April to mid November)....so for me  approx. 420 hours per year(season).

30ft Sailboat for pleasure and racing.

  7. We are in MD. The 30 footer stays in all winter. We visited today. We did go out in Jan. In the warmer months we go out any day it is warm enough. Other days we sit on it, read, do work, We cruise. We have trailerable boats also and in the summer are out everyday. Spring and fall 3 times a week. Winter every other day or so we are at the marina. I would say at least 180 days a year.

  8. Va, ~50 hrs a season motor running time, we are anchored and having fun for way more.

  9. we have a 20 ft cuddy with the camper top, we go out Saterday noon and come home sunday eve. every weekend rain or shine, we are making some winter repairs but we will be in the water next month every weekend we can.

  10. I have a bass boat.  It gets used about once a week for 8-9 hours during the spring and early summer.  Some times sits for a few months in the heat, then back out again about once a week in November for about 6 hours, weather permitting.
