...are there gushing winds?

Just realized that I havent heard any news about storm, typhoon, floods...in the Middle East.

Just feeding my curiosity.

  1. Hi Jamiee!

Also when TW answered your question already, here is a link which provides you with the preparations which were done by the UAE last year.

You asking the question about the Middle East at the USE section, so I assume you are only interested in the UAE. (Weather conditions are to different all over the ME).

Of course we also have storms, but that are sandstorms. Thyphoons - no. Floods, barley and not comparable to floods in other countries like USA, Europe, India etc. These floods will even not make into the international news.

In Ras Al Khaimah, Al Ain and Dubai it rains more often then in Abu Dhabi. The wadis in Ras Al Khaimah then may be flooted, but.....

Sometimes "rain" is a big issue in the UAE because hardly nobody is prepared for it. The streets don't have a drainage system and some houses in Dubai this year spring flooted. http://www.mailonsunday.co.uk/news/artic...

People do not own rain coats and you coud see guy's feet and heads wrapped in supermarket platic bags. Soldiers wore big brown trash bags:)) It was kinda funny.

But "heavy"rain is very seldom. In the wintertime it might altogether rain for 5 days during 3 months and mostly you even do not have to use an umbrella.

    Take care!

  2. i lived there for 12 yrs and never saw anything like that there. there are sandstorms when its very dusty and windy and there is rain but nothing very much it looks dramatic as the roads are not built to cope with sudden downpour so get flooded quick but thats about it.   the last 2 yrs i was there there wa s no rain and my kids were very excited to see rain when we came back to uk as they had never seen it before
