  1. Trooper is correct.  Most hostage matters are handled by local law enforcement or a nearby agency equip and trained for this.  Since it is the FBI it is only within the confines of the United States and only when it is a serious, probrably high profile or federal matter.


  2. A hostage situation is normally going to make national news, so I would guess they have very few actual calls.

    They do, however, train extensively when no calls are pending.
