How often does the National Hurricane Center update on tropical storms and hurricanes?

I basically live on the bayous of Louisiana and unfortunately we are in the line of fire with Tropical Storm Gustav. I notice that they update at different times but I can't seem to catch on to what these times are. Is it every 2 hours?

ABOUT every 3-4 hours are scheduled updates.

You might take some time to cruise the hurricane center site.. I just found that they have email lists, which is sending me the discussions. Although they emphasize this is new, and no guarantee to be "on time".

The National Hurricane Center in Miami gives updates at 2 am EDT, 5am EDT, 8am EDT, 11am EDT,.2pm EDT, 5pm EDT, 8pm EDT, and 11pm EDT. In your time zone, CDT they will be posted 1 hour earlier. Greg

usually every 4 hours or so if this storm gets strong they will be updating it 4-6 times a day. if you cant catch it being updated then go on

Without a watch or warning every 6 hours, Otherwise every 3 hours (with watch or warning). Under rare and special circumstances advisories cna be issued every 1-2 hours when theres a powerful storm under 24 hours from making landfall.

Well if you have the weather channel they tell you a lot nearly every 10 minutes. And 10 minutes before every hour, they give a specific Gustav update.

I could be wrong, but I believe the National Hurrican website updates its pubic advisories every 2 hours!

The standard updates from the National Hurricane Center are every 6 hours, at 4 AM, 10 AM, 4 PM and 10 PM Central Daylight times. When a tropical system gets close to land, they issue public updates every 3 hours, at the same times as well as a mid point statement between those times.
