  1. the International Space Station flies (orbits) around the earth 16 times a day or about once every hour and a half... because the earth rotates slower than the Space Station orbits it, it will not appear over the same place on the earth every revolution... every four orbits, the space station will appear over the same spot... so, to answer your question... roughly four times a day, except that it is day time for most of those orbits and we cant see it...

  2. The International Space Station goes over England about 4 times a day, every day. Most of the time, however, it goes over in broad daylight when it obviously can't be seen or in the middle of the night, when it isn't illuminated by the Sun so, again, can't be seen. To be visible, it needs to come over within about 1 or 2 hours of sunrise or sunset, when it is illuminated by the Sun, but the background sky is sufficiently dark.

Its appearances go in a cycle of two months. For two weeks, it is visible every evening, then the rotation of the orbit means that it only comes over in the daytime for  about two weeks, then two weeks appearing every morning followed by, on average, two weeks of invisibility in the depths of the night. The cycle then repeats with evening appearances restarting.

At the moment, it's just finishing its evening run. You might catch it tonight, low in the southwest sky at about 2108 BST, if you're in the south of the country. Failing that, you'll have to wait until the end of the month for a sequence of morning appearances or mid-September for the restart of evening appearances.

  3. I watched it two weeks back, it was about 1hr 45mins or something like that, firstly it tracked from West to East over the Solent, south of my house on the South coast, the next pass it made was also West to East, and it flew right over my head!  It was really something!  My camera, on 12x optical zoom and magnified up, showed it had an irregular shape to it.  I also took a small video clip which I really must upload.  Small, bright, like a star or any small jet, but the clue is in how far and fast it travels.
