Why?

by C.S. Scotkin

Is it not human to say why

from the first breath we cry

to the heavens..here am I …why?

No answers to give, one life to live.

This universe chooses not to give

all the answers I desire…why?

I confess to all reader’s eyes,

that the Universe, in no wise

is obligated to tell me…why.

I have no answers, only obligation

to weary trav’lers, without reservation,

my sisters, brothers all asking…why?

Hearts filled with love for all around

surely make a joyful sound

even if they have no faith, always asking why.

  1. We are wired to seek answers to questions. Even Yahoo must love this one. As usual, the poetry itself is excellent. (See? Spell Chick didn't yell at me once, for the first time since her new inception).

  2. Reincarnation,

    Is it true?

    Can that grasshopper be you?

I always have room left for wonder.

They say spirits visit us in different ways,

And I only have room left for wonder.

To ponder life’s truths and lies,

    C.S. Scotktin,

Yes, we all at some point ask, why?

    You must not argue,

    You must not accept,

    Just respect,

And always leave room left for wonder.

  3. Geeze...this is a very nice poem..

    I like it very much..

Do you write more? You should post more! :)

    Keep it up!!

  4. Fully human, trying to identify,

the reason for the questing cry,

from here to eternity, asking why?

But not about this poem, or the desire to write. There are no whys there. We will always question, we will always love, we will always love to question. Blessed Be, and may you find answers...pun intended...maybe.

  5. Being an original 'why' type of brat, I know I drove my parents and teachers crazy.  I still ask.

  6. I have a head full of questions, even when sleeping.  Only a minute part of a tenth of a percent find suitable answers.  The day I get all the answers, time will surely end abruptly at that instant.

  7. Please excuse. This is unfortunately my cue for a silly A. (yes I am a silly A sometimes)

Why, thank you. Thank you very much, for asking in such a polite manner ma'am. I love your poem, don't ask me why. I have to maintain an air of mystery sometimes.

    There is always wisdom

    in God's whys?

    Where there's a will

    there's a "why?"

    Does a confusing question

mean a case of "crossed whys"?

    Question-wise,

    the true answer usually comes

    after the moment is passed.

    A wise man once asked...

    "huh?"

(to my why of thinking, the unanswerable question)

I'll leave you now, with the Village People singing their no 1 smash hit......
