  1. actually burgandy looks purple till its been washed alot. auburn an light golden brown

  2. Burgundy is one of the shades of red. Unless you are speaking of wine.

Red has many shades, from pink through deep burgundy.

  3. Burgundy is more like red-violet.

I often mistake scarlet or red-orange for red.

  4. scarlett

  5. I can give some simple answers based on observance.  A stop sign is probably the best example of pure red. There might be some dispute about red and brightness.  Normally cars vary in red; a few very red like the stop sign.  In clothes and such it can get brighter.

Burgundy is different it has a lot amount of purple in it.  So it would not normally be mistaken for red.  It is a different color.  I don't mean to be a simpleton, but seriously 64 box of crayons would give you a good look at different shades.  But burgundy is not a just a different shade; it is a different color.  Metallic red or so which is brighter would be a shade.  Another shade would be crimson which is a darker red, but not burgundy.  Football is an example here.  University of Alabama has dark red called Crimson (Tide), and University of Georgia has lighter more standard red.

Sorry cannot be more precise, but hope this helps some.

  6. It is in the red family, like maroon and Ox-blood

  7. red (types of)

Synonyms: wine, blood red, brick red, burgundy, carmine, carnation, cherry red, claret, crimson, damask, garnet, magenta, maroon, oxblood, pillar-box red, puce, ruby, scarlet, vermilion
