How often is your Radiator fan suppose to come on?

I don't think mine is coming on when its needs to because every time i try to run my AC my car will start over heating and i just replaced the Rad. fan on it now what could be going on.

  1. You might have a faulty thermostat. If the thermostat is bad, it might not be opening at the correct temperature when you crank up the AC.

    If you have overheating at other times (like idling in traffic), you may have some kind if restriction in the cooling system or a bad radiator.

    Have a shop run a diagnostic check on it.


  2. its suppose to come on when the engine gets to a certain temperature.

  3. It sounds like it is the thermostat. It tells the fan when to turn on at a high temperature. It is really inexpensive and easy to install.

  4. watch the fan with the car running and aircon on and see if it comes on.  there's lots of reasons a car could overheat.  if its a new fan and its not coming on the problem is probably wiring or the temperature sender to the ecu, or the fan fuse or relay.  thermostat has nothing to do with the radiator fan, it isn't an electrical part.
