Question:

How often should I lift weights?

I am planning to get all A's this semester and don't want to spend the time eating perfectly (I still eat fairly well) and lifting weights to build muscle or get much stronger. I just want to maintain the way I look. I am running or playing soccer 3 - 4 times a week and I was thinking about lifting twice a week (two different upper body workouts). What do you think?

  1. With what you do right now, twice a week is OK. just don't work the same group twice. You could even break it down even further by working only two muscle groups each time..that would only take about an hour per visit.

  2. You need about 48 hours between each session of lifting weights for the muscles to recover.

You can cardio exercise every day if you want to.

Nutrition still plays a role when exercising, so don't neglect that area.
