  1. as much as it needs to.it depends how u keep it up &ur driving ,care or abuse .it could 6 months or 2 years

  2. newer cars in the pass 10 years or so usually go 100,000 miles before needing a tune up.  if you driver average miles or a little more you can easily go 10 years and well over 100,000 before needing a tune up.  Check your owners manual i think it tells you your maintenance interval and tune ups are 100,000 miles.  Now if you drive below average miles and a lot of city driving you need to tune it up more often and before 100,000 miles.

  3. The best thing to do is to read owner's manual.

Every car has some what different schedule.

Most cars don't need tune up but just need to replace some parts (oil filter, air filter, fuel filter, spark plugs and wires, distributor cap and rotor, Brake pads, coolant, and etc) .

Most important thing is to Change engine oil and filter every 3000 to 5000 miles depends on your driving (a lot of hi-way driving don't need oil change as often as a lot of city driving) if you want your car to last over 300k miles or more.

I have a car with 230000k miles and still runs like a new car,

all you need to do is keep the engine oil clean and follow the maintenance schedule in the owner's manual.

  4. There is no tuning in tune up.  The cars (computer) automatically tunes themselves as you drive.

here is the list of tune up items:

    (1) spark plugs

    (2) spark plug wires

    (3) distributors, coil, rotors (if you have them).

    (4) new air filter

    (5) PCV

    (6) correct tire pressure

    (7) clear the trunk of useless heavy items

    (8) spray clean MAF sensor.

The spark plugs (platinum kind) last 100K miles.  The wires should last as long.  The air filters last about 30 k mile (the new kind).  And MAF should be clean every time you change the air filter.

    ===

So there's exact number.  I would say 3 years if you drive a lot and 5 years if you don't drive much.

    Good Luck....
