We just got a small albino leopard gecko last week. It pooped when we were bringing it home on Thursday, but not since. It has been eating two tiny crickets every other day. I'm just not sure what normal is and if we should be concerned. Please advise.

  1. Today's Friday (the 26th) so I'm assuming you mean it hasn't pooped for a week. Its good you're paying attention 'cause he should have pooped more. Two or three times a week is most common, but like people, they vary.

A young leopard gecko should be fed daily and you can expect it to eat 5-8 crickets a night. Do you have an under-cage heater for one side of the cage (or tank)? Does he have at least one place to hide where he can feel safe? Does he have access to water all the time? And lastly, does he have a moist hide? If any of these are missing, or if the cage temperatures are off, the gecko may not eat.

He/she'll also need powdered calcium. You can add a little in a bottlecap and keep it available all the time, or you can "dust" the crickets with powder before you turn them loose in the cage.

Good luck to you and the leopard gecko. He/she's depending on you for continued health so keep paying attention!

  2. i would say every other night or every night

  3. Well,if you just brought it home,it could not eat also because it is not use to the enviroment so the gecjo will pick its corner too p**p so,just keep feeding it,dust the crickets some times with calcium! and mix up the diet too! :D keep me updated.
