  1. My dog who is about 28 lbs, I feed him almost 2 cups once a day. I feed him when we eat dinner. Just the once, It works out great. When I let him out in the morning he does his duty. The back of the dog food bag will give you a suggestion on how much to feed him by weight.

  2. Im really not sure how much, but you can look on your bag of food or you can aska vet, either in person or online. But for a puppy probably around a half of a cup (no more than a cup) 2-3 times a day. Cats and dogs are like humans. When they are young you have to monitor how much and when they are eating but once they grow up they know what to do and when to do it. If he's an indoor/outdoor puppy, take him out to the bathroom every few hours, if he starts to whine or something like go to the door, sniff around (when there's no food or water of any kind in that area), scratch at the door maybe let him out to see what he needs.Just watch his signs. The best thing you can do is a sk your vet for an exact amount. Puppies(and  kittens) are like having babies. Really any pets are.

  3. Take the automatic feeder away.  Feed him a small meal in the morning and then a usual size meal at dinner time.  If you don't control the eating he will not be able to stop peeing and pooping.  A 4 month old at 30 pounds should get 1 cup in the am, and 1 1/2 cups in pm.

  4. Well I would do what you have already done is get him a schedule and put the food down on the time schedule. I love my puppy too and this is working for us as well. As for aggressiveness, firm no and time out in his crate do help, not long but he does respond to that. He is puppy so needs training. A friends suggestion and Experience being my source.

  5. you should feed it twice a day once at 8:30 and leave it out for 20 minutes than take it away until 4:00

  6. Twice a day, is the best amount for them.

I used to have an auto feeder for my puppy.

But he ate it allll the time and also went over everywhere,

we had to take it away intill he understood

what times to eat at, or only eat when he was

    hungry.

  7. Twice a day. Once in the morning and once in the evening. How much depends on size and breed.

  8. Read the bag of dog food as to how much to feed him. There will be a chart that tells you how many cups according to weight.

If you are using a lower quality food, you will have to feed him more than if you were feeding him a higher quality food. Lower quality food has more fillers, less nutritional value, so he will need to eat more which leads to bigger amounts of waste.

If you switch to a higher quality of food, he won't need to eat as much to get all the nutrients he needs, so there will be less p**p.

It is best to have a set feeding schedule. You can feed him in the morning and after dinner. You take the total amount of food the bag says to feed him, and split it up into two feedings.

A regular bowl will probably work best, so you can control how much he eats.

  9. feed him once in the morning when you wake up or before you go to work (if you work) and once in the evening when you get home or when you eat dinner. the back of the dog food bag should tell you how much to feed him.

  10. We have a 4 month old Collie (just under 25 lbs) and we feed her per the Nutri-Source Large Breed Puppy Food directions...3 cups per day.

    1 in the morning

    1 at lunch

    1 at supper

This will change to 2X per day, with the amount changing to whatever the Nutri-Source Adult Food directs, when she is somewhere between 7-9 months.

Our Vet suggested following the feeding directions on the bag.  He also suggest using high quality premium dog food.  He also suggested that free feeding is not helpful in housebreaking.
