Rats don't need regular baths unless they smell very bad or somehow get very dirty. They do their grooming themselves. However, if they do get really gross you can give them baths, but they don't need them every week/month or any set period of time. Just whenever they get really gross. Avoid the head.

You should buy very very mild shampoo, like kitten shampoo. The water should be warm, but not hot, and not too deep. You can also just use special small animal wipes, or a damp cloth to wipe them down.

This really depends on the reason for bathing your rat. If fleas are the reason get a flea spray made for rodents( if you can't find it use the one for kittens) spray it on a washcloth and wipe it on the rat. Avoid the face and eyes, and watch him until it is dry so it doesn't l**k the poison. If the rat is really dirty, covered in poo etc, use luke warm water and a mild soap ( baby body wash, kitten shampoo, etc). Just make sure to rinse all the soap off. If the rat isn't really dirty and you just think he needs a bath or smells a bit run some luke warm water in a tub or sink, just a few inches deep and let the rats swim around for a bit then towel dry it and put it in a warm area to let it finish drying it's self. As for how often no more that once a month or as REALLY needed. Some rats really enjoy a good swim every now and then. Just be sure to stay with the rat and never take your eyes off it when it is in or around water.

get some soapy water.. not too soapy.. more water than soap.. get a soft bristle tooth brush, and lightly scrup going over the entire rat once.. not the head or eyes or tail.. but everywhere else is ok..

well i love to bathe my rats. (=

if you do wash him/her do it

2 times a month max.

it is bad for ther skin like every week

but every two weeks is fine.

there is a shampoo

called beapher for rats and ferrets.

im not sure if you live in the UK or not

but that shampoo is available at pets at home.
