How often should roses be trimmed back?

Any recommendations for resources regarding basic rose bush care?

An annual pruning every autumn keeps them and the surrounding area clean and free of mildews and other problems that may not be obvious in the spring but rear their ugly heads later in the season. Here's a site on Rose Care and Fertilization.

every october they should be trimmed back.

when i worked at disney world i would prune the roses everyday i would cut off the dead flowers to promote new growth i would never cut them completly down only dead branches let them grow they didnt do anything to you
