  1. You should provide showers, baths or misting to your bird frequently.  I recommend using a mist or spray daily, with a weekly shower or bath.

Here is a great article "Why and How to Bathe Your Bird" from Drs Foster and Smith:

  2. I'm fostering a female lutino cockatiel, and I must say, these are DUSTY birds! Expecially when they molt! LOL!

If you want to keep the dust down to a minimum, then you can bathe him every/every other, day. Cockatiels come from the grasslands of Australia, where it does not rain too much, so yes it's true, for cockatiels, that they don't HAVE to have baths. But if you just want to give him baths for matenance(if you don't care about dander), I would say once or twice a week.

  3. you don't have to bathe them at all. you can spray them with warm water in a spray bottle to give them a shower (make sure to spray from a distance and spray up so it falls on them), but if they don't like it then don't do it. you can also but a shallow bowl of water in the cage and they can bathe themselves.

  4. I bought the sprays at petco. Mine says to spray them once a day holding the bottle 8 inches away.  Make sure to read the directions and precautions, some will state to remove the bird from cage so that the solution wont land in the food or water dish.
