  1. The pet store owner told me once a week.

  2. Yes, I give my herman a sprinkle of vitamin powder on his food everyday and sometimes give him the vitamin pellets but I find he dosen't like them so don't give him them alot.

    Best of luck xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx... =D =D =D

  3. Here is a good link to diet and supplements for Russian (Horsefield) Tortoises...they should have a high fiber diet and yes, supplements are very important.

  4. Not at all - just give her plenty of leaf and regular tomatoes... xx

  5. My preference is to offer a diet that does not need extra calcium or vitamins- a well-balanced diet with lots of high-calcium greens and variety (see http://www.russiantortoise.org for good diet recommendations).

THEN I offer a very LIGHT sprinkle of vitamins and calcium on meals I know are not great for one reason or another (for example, when I use Greenleaf lettuce or other greens lower in calcium).

THEN I add a pinch of calcium and vitamins about every week, as a safety measure.

Remember, it is entirely possible to overdo vitamins and calcium- both in a single meal or over time. Keep it light!
