Question:

How often to Water Orchids --?

I got a plant as a present and do NOT know what kind it is.

The whole "main" stem died but the rest of the plant is fine and perfect and growing well.

It is planted with a small amount of bark and the rest moss.

How often should I water and is it normal for the main plant part (the tall main part) to die and break off?????

Thanks - No clue on how to maintain orchids.

  1. i agree with the first answer

  2. orchids require very little water about every 10 days, get yourself a orchids fertilizer from a garden center. the long part of the plant which you say has died was probably the old flower stem

  3. orchids are kind of like cactus, they dont like alot of water, you should water like once a week, i do, and if you put them in full sun they bloom more, but if you put them in full shade youll get greener foliage, but no flowers, you should let the mix dry then water, you should fertilize every begining of seasons , march, june and sept, not winter!!
