  1. yes

  2. Hi,

No, cockatiels and on the whole most birds have to be at least 1 year old, but i have known them to breed before this so its all down to the bird really. But you shouldn't allow them to breed before a year old.

  3. Cockatiels reach sexual maturity at eight to ten months, however a young cockatiel, say two years old, is fine if that's what you have.

The widely unknown fact of breeding though, is that younger is better. The ability of any organism to keep producing new reproductive DNA tends to degrade over time. But as I said, two years is still plenty young, and at 8-10 months they may still not be completely ready. Two years may in fact be ideal, as far as I'm concerned.

  4. I have a cockatiel, and hes about 21 right now.

not sure if your asking how long they life but.. trust me they live for a long time. Definitly older than 2 years.

  5. All cockatiels can breed at 8 months old but most of them begin getting interested in it around 12 months or older. The males usually show interest in females when they begin dancing and whistleing tunes to the females, the females usually begin wanting to nest around 8 to 12 months of age. This is why they are so easily bred, if we had to wait 2 yrs per pair to get old enough to breed we'd all be behind in our breeding programs we try to set up. Knowing how to read the s*x and mutations early will help you raise babies together who you may want to breed later once they get old enough. Which is around 1 yr old.
