How old are my budgies?

Well, her cere is still pink, and that tells me that she's young, but how young? I want to know so that I can tell when she's old enough to mate. Are there any ways to tell how old she is?

My second bird almost has a full blue cere, and his cere is kinda purple-ish. His eye has a white ring in it. Like his actual eye, is black with an outer white ring. So... Are there any ways to tell how old they are?

  1. baby parakeets will have stripes over their foreheads no matter what s*x they are. At 8 months old parakeets can begin breeding and the male should already have his navy blue cere. The female's will still look pink white or begin turning brown and appear flakey there after in some. At 5 months old the parakeets forehead will lose all of it's stripes and become a solid color depending on what mutation the bird is.

  2. Thats quite good information for me to help you with. Females have brown cere's males bright blue or lighter blue for yellow males.

A baby budgie that is really young has no white ring around the pupil, this means that your looking between 16-20weeks I'd say. Wait till they are six months before you attempt to breed and make sure they are NOT siblings. They will not breed until they are ready
