  1. The largest pyramid in Egypt is that of Cheops. It is 4600 years old.

The first pyramid built in Egypt is the step pyramid in Sakara hich is the tomb of Zoser. It is 4700 years old.

    Trust me.

  2. The conventional date is, I'm sorry to say, correct.  The "weathering pattern" business is a misinterpretation of the weathering of different layers of limestone on the Sphynx; the lower levels are made of a softer stone, and have weathered more because of it, not because the whole thing's ten thousand years old.

The question of who was buried in which isn't my specialty, so I'll leave it alone.

We have evidence that there were people around doing things in the 2600 BCE period - we have potsherds, huts, burials, accounts, things that can be carbon dated.  We know there was a big, complex Egyptian state that had the resources and time.

We don't have a scrap of evidence that a culture capable of doing huge building projects was living there in 8,000 BCE - we've just dug up tiny stone-age settlements of people who buried their dead with a simple pot.  If the pyramids were built during this period, why don't we have the burials, houses, and garbage of of a big, complex people to dig up?

  3. You can know many details about the pyramids through our website.

  4. some people say itis7000years ago

  5. The "conventional" date is about 2500 BC or so, as they say that these were built by Khufu, Khafra and Menkare.

However, that is all bull, as the weathreing pattern on the Sphinx (which is by the side of the 3 Giza pyramids) shows that the weathering was done by torrential rain, and the last time such rain fell on the Giza plateau was 7500 BC.

Of course, the know-it-alls and the academics will hotly debate this, as they will be asked to re-learn history if their pet time-frame falls through, but the 7500 BC date is by geologists, not by a bunch of crackpots.

  6. Even today that is a subject for debate. The only evidence that the great pyramid of cheops had anything to do with cheops is a cartouche of the name "cheops" that OTHER people swear was NOT there earlier. Some people say 5,000 years but others say at least 10,000 and that the pyramids as well as the sphinx are evidence of a earlier highly advanced culture on earth that was wiped out in some kind of natural disaster.

  7. The largest pyramid is that of Khufu who was pharaoh in c2470-2447BCE. which  dates the pyramid to being 4530years old conservatively as we really don't know in which year of his reign the pyramid was completed.

It is more then likely that it was completed before his death.

If I may, can I address points put forward by other answerers.

Grahame Hancock and the like put forward theories regarding the pyramid and the Sphinx belonging to a much earlier civilisation however they neglect to inform that the  limestone used in the subterranean and some other inner passageways of the Great pyramid has been fingerprinted to being from the same quarry as the Sphinx is carved from.

They also give no other examples of an advanced civilisation which one would think there would be some remains.

They rely heavily on their "Orion Theory" of the pyramids matching the stars in the belt of Orion which does come into ancient Egyptian lore.

But the pyramids are not in alignment with the belt of Orion as they claim as they prefer not to drawn attention to the fact they have forgotten to reverse the image in this so called mirror image of the heaven that they claim the Giza complex represents.

The Sphyinx is of a much lower grade rock and this is one of the reason we think the builders of the pyramids chose to not use it in the construction of the pyramid and intsead, after taking some of the limestone for use in the Great Pyramid carved the natrual outcrop into an image named "Horus of the Horizen".

It is also negleted by Hanock and company to mention the The great Pyramid is named "Khufus Horizen".

    Concidence no, just historical fact.

Theories of ancient 10,000 year old super advanced cultures make to sell cheap sensationalist books, example Eric Von Daniken....who you ask?

Well he was a guy who was putting forth theories equally perposterous in the 1970s.But noone gives him any credibility these days with his tales of alien beings building the pyramids.

If there were new facts to be learnt we would embrace them. But we can only work with facts in science, not theories thought up by uncredited amatuers seeking to sell their latest book.

I will add that one of our most noted and knowledgeable Egyptologists Mark Lehner who has worked on the Giza complex for 30 years came to Giza as a disciple of Edgar Cayce believing" wondrous theories" .

He now will openly refute that there is any credibility to the phophesies of Cayce and has openly debated the subject with Hancock and made mince meat of his so called theories.
