How old are you suppose to be to get your permit without the classes in california?

You can get your permit at 17 1/2 without taking drivers ed or training.  If you want your drivers license before age 18, you have to complete drivers ed and training but you can get your permit at 17 1/2....I'm sure of my answer.

With out classes 18, with classes 15 1/2.
