  1. That's quite a wide range, but 7-13 years for a 680 pound fish means it grows very fast -- that's 50-100 pounds a year.

    There's currently a study going on to determine the growth rates more accurately, but all I was able to find was a description of the method -- it seems they don't have results yet. But it describes how they determine the ages.
