How old can a cockatiel be to lay an egg?

Well my baby cockatiel who is only 3 months old layed an egg last night, but it craked. My mom thinks my boy cockatiel layed but i said he cant it was the girl. So i would just like to know how old do the females have to be.

  1. Female tiels generally don't start laying until about 6 months but can lay earlier.  You are right the egg had to come from your female males don't lay eggs

    Females can lay from anytime some people think that they are ready to lay just six weeks after hatching but theres no fact behind this. But yours is only three months old and laying so theres your answer. Although females should not breed until at least 1 year old. Clearly males can't lay eggs so it must have been the female unless both birds are female.
