  1. If it is not killed by disease or predation, elephants can live to around 60 in the wild. Elephants' teeth are constantly lost and replaced throughout their lives, the new teeth erupting from the back and moving forward in the jaw as those at the front drop out. By the time the animal reaches about 60 years of age, there are no new teeth left to replace those which fall out - the elephant can no longer feed and will die of starvation. In captivity, elephants are capable of living longer, since they can be fed on soft foods which do not require chewing.


  2. Well, Im pretty sure an average elephant can live to 70 years, or maybe a bit longer in the wild.
