  1. there is no definate law as such but it states that the child must be competent to be left, in other words you must feel happy that the child will be able to look after themselves while you are out. i would say once they are around 12 they are competent for a few hpurs but 13/14 for all day.

  2. no legal age it is upto the parent/guardian to make the judgement

  3. You have to be able to take care of yourself so 12

  4. i thought it was like 10. but i guess not. i guess it is about 14 legally but the police isn't going to come beat down the door and arrest you if he is like 11 or something so if it is 14 that is a stupid law and police probably have better things that they have to do then ccheck f everyone who s home alone is 14. so that is kind of one of those laws that you don't have to follow.

  5. I was babysitting at 12.  My friend has 11 year old twins who she leaves for short amounts of time.  My little one is 10 and I think she'd be afraid if I left her alone.

  6. No, I am UK and when I was SEVEN I was left alone.

  8. 14 years old, They have to be mature enough though id say.

  9. Leagally 12 IF the child can make tea and toast. Silly but true. If not 14. Hope this helps.

  10. Ach come on common sense will tell you when its ok to leave a 'teenager' home alone all day not a 'child'

  11. don't do it if there is any other option, they're not mature enough nor emotionally mature enough.

My grandson was left and invariably he would ring me up with an excuse....like he didn't feel well or he was scared. he spent more time at my house than his own.

I know some say this is a myth but I think it's true....boys in general are two years behind a girl of the same age.

They may put on a macho attitude but they're just babies at heart.

You've also got the problem of them bringing their friends in and no matter how they promise they won't, trust me, they will.

  12. 14 if they a sensible if not then not until you can trust them to be on their own

  13. My mom leaves me home with my 6 brothers and sisters from 9:00am-3:00pm. That's only Monday, Wednesday, and Friday in the summer. I'm only 13, and that's legal. I'm sure all day legally is probably 12.

  14. There is no definate answer to the legal age, best check with the social and the police.

  15. I'm 13 and i often stay at home all day but my parents never leave my all night

  16. 12 or 13 and older

  17. Depends on the child. I was mature enough to babysit other people's children at 11 (I never would have trusted an 11 year old but it made me some good cash!) my brother is 12 at the moment and he's only allowed home for a couple hours a day, but he can't cook ANYTHING for himself,,,, he's mommas boy and wasn't even allowed to learn to use the microwave or boil a pot of water.

So it depends on the child. If he is sufficient enough on his own, leave him at home. But if you don't think he is, don't leave him home alone or have someone check up on him.

I know I started staying home alone around 8 or 9....

  18. yes its 14 years old

  19. 14 as long as they are mature
