  1. You must be 18 to serve on a jury.

Most trials are very boring, and last an average of 3 to 5 days.

So, if you think you are going to sit in on an "OJ" type of trial, and then write a book and make a fortune, keep dreaming.

  2. You must be 18 and names are chosen here in FL. by driver's license registration. I think it's admirable that you are excited about serving, since most people dread being called and try to avoid it.

  3. Don`t get too excited, you must be 18 or more, I am 59 and never been called, its luck of the draw, you may never be asked.

    Chris.

  4. When you turn 70 jury duty will no longer be mandatory. But if you get into certain professions you can bet your bottom dollar you won't have to serve. Even so, It's a long wait as the wheels of justice turn ever so slowly.

  5. Once you turn 18 then you are required to do Jury Duty.  You won't be called to do so UNLESS you register to vote.  Looks like your turning 18 at just the right time in the U.S.  You are put in a panel..asked questions and then both sides determine if they want you on the jury.   Hope you have fun and enjoy it!  I did.

  6. its random, and it soooo boring, but it is necessary, you can get sent there and put in a jury pool and never get chosen you just have to sit there....

  7. Congrats for wanting to serve. Make sure you bring a good book to read, snacks, water, and maybe a pad and pencil for writing how bored you are. It's an alllllllllllllllll day process of waiting, going in, talking to lawyers, going back out to wait again...

    Have fun

  8. It is done by random draw off of voter registration.  You only need to be 18.  Good for you, I try to avoid it whenever I can.  The few times I was called, I was rejected by the prosecution because I have a college degree.  For me it is a waste of time because lawyers on both sides do not like to seat educated people because they are harder to manipulate.
