  1. Well, I guess I am the Odd one out for this question.  I saw my first ghost at age 5 and told my grandmothers and my mum and they all explained what a ghost was and a spirit and about the Paranormal in general so I would not be afraid of it and they taught me how to deal with whatever it was I saw or felt.

All of the women on both sides of my parents has this give and I don't run around saying what it is as I don't want this to be a focal point of my life.  As an adult I have learned so much and I have started my own Paranormal Investigation Group.

I have done child care for over 30 years and if a child comes to me and tells me something they have seen, I just say let's put it to rest until your mom and dad come and I talk to them.   I have always had full support to explain the truth to the child and the parents have happily let the child or children go out with our group as long as it is not to far away and we have them home by a certain time.  I have parents who have gone with the child also and told me afterwards they trust me and my group to take them out with us.  The youngest has been 3 years old and I have had more 3 year olds with us and then 4, 5, 6 and so on.  Not one child has ever been harmed and have seen an taken pictures of what they were seeing.  They take great pictures.  When a child starts school then they can go out if all homework is done, had a good day at school and then they can only go out on a Friday or a Saturday night with us.  Once school is out we renoncigate with the parents.  The children love it and have learned how to take pictures and EVPs as well.  Not one of them has ever had a problem in school and so far all have been on the Honor Roll.

I have the parents sign an agreement with me and they give me their insursance cards for that night.  Thank Goodness we have never had to use the insurance card.  I guess it all comes down to what Group wants a certain age and you just abide by that and wait until your older.

                           Good Luck to you!!

  2. any age is good, but since there are no ghosts for real, you may want to consider another line of work.

  3. It has less to do with your age than what it is you're willing to believe.  If you are looking for ghosts you're already qualified to be a ghost hunter.  If you're interested in being a paranormal investigator you might require a bit more seasoning.

  4. i'm a ghost hunter,my son has his own ghost hunting team and get this,he is 11

  5. omg u want to be a ghost hunter too? i do too!! that show is awesome and cool but i am only 12 i wish they let 12 year olds join :( that is my all time favorite show it comes on every Wednesday i can't wait until the new season!!

  6. Most organized groups require you to be at least 18, mainly for liability reasons.  My kids started investigating with me when they were about 14 - 16.  The cofounder of my group has a 15 year old daughter who is a "sensitive," meaning she can sense & hear the ghosts.  She comes along on many of our investigations, but her mother makes sure to sign any liability waivers necessary.  How do your parents feel about your interest in ghosthunting?  I hope they're supportive!  Check in your area for a group that may be willing to allow you to attend a public hunt with them or attend their meetings or training sessions.  Good luck!

  7. Most groups want you be at least 18 in order to avoid liability issues like you falling and tripping on an investigation and your parents suing them.

A liability release and your parent signed permission will overcome this objection (usually).

The other problem is that groups want to look professional so they don't take along young adults. In my mind this is like saying I want to look smart so I'm not letting you go to school to get an education.

That said I have lectured to middle school (5th and 6th grade) students that could easily contribute to any investigation.

I have also taught investigating techniques to young adults as part of overnight stays at a natural history museum (yes usually around Halloween).

You might look for this experience being offered by your local museum or ask your school to bring a guest speaker on paranormal investigations.

I have listed two books below that would help you on the basics. One is a children's book but I required my investigators to read both before going on investigations.

The last link list organizations by state so you might be able to locate a group near you.

  8. If you want to join a group already in existence 18 or 21 but you can hunt ghosts at any age. I have heard of kids 10 to 14 getting together in schools and starting their own ghost hunting club. Parents will be the determining factor on this one.

  11. i think 21 is a good age to start however i also do feel it depends on the individual. some people, especially kids are not strong enough ( i dont mean physically).. they are kind of an easy target to spirits.. i think you must have enough will power and must be very strong mentally.. and unless you are very sure that that is the job to do, dont do it.. some ppl get into it thinking its cool and all (i agree it is) but they dont know what they are doing.. and might get themselves into some trouble.
