  1. I live in Illinois and have been to most of the pool halls at one time or another. Most of the pool halls don't really have a set age limit. Now when i say pool hall i'm not talking about a bar that has pool tables. I'm talking about a pool hall that's main business is pool and billiards. Most of them do serve alcohol but the bar is usually away from the pool tables. Sometimes in a different room. Of course you know the drinking age here is 21 so sometimes you can't go in or near the bar part of the pool hall. But you can still go in and play pool if you like. Like a previous answerer said it may vary a little from town to town due to city ordinances and the like but you should be able to play in most pool halls in Illinois as long as you stay away from the bar. Be on your best behavior and keep an eye out for hustlers or any other kind of trouble and you should be fine. Good luck and keep playing.

  2. Call 'em up, Lucas! Tell the pool hall manager that your only place to play, has closed down. Express to the pool hall attendant, that you and your friends would like to continue playing pool and that you would be very grateful and respectful of the pool hall and for them allowing you to continue to playing a sport that you're passionate about.

If the pool hall allows you and your friends to play, be sure to respect the pool hall, other players, the equipment, and yourselves. Keep your drinks OFF the tables! Keep your voices down. Dress in appropriate attire.

I played in pool halls at age 12. I handled myself well, and respected the establishment, its players and the equipment. That was a long time ago. Things do change. Your best bet is to call the place up, and ask. Ask to speak to the manager BEFORE you pose your question to the attendant. If the manager is not available, go ahead and ask. If you are turned away, ask the attendant when the owner or manager will be in. Express your sincere passion to play pool.

  3. That answer will vary from town to town and county to county and state to state and owner to owner. I think the easiest thing to do is to call the establishment and ask them what their guidelines are.

That's just my two points worth.
