  1. I agree with Gunny here... most big vendors care about the money, not about how old they are.  There's no laws about it like kittens, puppies or rabbits...  Basically make sure you get one that's not egg-sized, has a decent sized tail and looks bright eyed.

Honestly, I wouldn't get one that's a hatching.  Get one that's a couple months old... leaning more toward 4" instead of 2-3".  That way you can make sure the gecko has been eating well for at least the past few weeks and should be able to keep weight on eating for you.

  2. If you get a baby it will die. You need to get an adult. The babies are very hard to take care of. In a beginners hands it will die. You may need to force feed it, and stay up all night with a dropper and pedialyte.

  3. yeah they should petco and petsmart sell them at hatchlings and i know that you cant sell bearded dragons until they are at least 6 inches

  4. Hatchlings won't eat for the first 2 days after hatch (they're still living off the yolk).

You don't want to buy a baby until it's an established eater (to make sure it will eat).  A good breeder won't sell his hatchlings until they've taken food, but not all breeders are ethical. Unfortunately they can be sold right after hatch (buyers beware).

  5. i know my petstore sells hatchlings but i dont think theres an age limit for reptiles since they dont nurse or anything
