How old do u have to be to get one of those cards that you can only spend the money thats in it?

no not a gift card. you can use them wherever credit cards are accepted.

  1. There are a few different kinds.

    There are cash cards, these are pre-paid cards that you put money on and spend it just like a credit card, but you don't have to make payments because you already paid on it.  The answer is no age limit.

    Secured credit cards

    These are real credit cards that the bank issues when you open a savings account, you use it, then you pay on it,.  If you don't pay it then they take the money out of your account to pay it off.  I believe it is 16 or 18.  16 with a co-signer, 18 for yourself

    Debit Cards

    These are lines of credit that work like a secured card.  You have to apply for the credit end of it.  If it is a true debit, then the money is taken out of you checking account. If it is a combo- card, then you can use it as a credit card or have it deducted from your account.  The answer to that is 18.
