  1. PSAT's are taken during your 10th and/or 11th grade year. They are not looked at by colleges, however, doing beyond-well as a junior can qualify you for national merit. I think that there are three sections for the PSAT, one for writing, reading comprehension, and math. There is no essay section.

SATs are usually taken the spring of your junior year and/or the fall of your senior year. It is three hours long, 3 sections each for writing, reading and math. There is an essay section at the very start of the tests.

Don't stress too much, and good luck.

  2. You really don't need to worry about this now, and these tests do NOT matter in your life.

    But here is the gist:

You take PSATS in october of 10th and 11th grade. they are good practice, but dont measure up to the SAT.

THe SAT is the college exam you must take for most schools. They are difficult and rigorous. Take a course/hire a tutor.

You usually take them May of 11th grade/Oct of 12th grade. You can take them more than once.

Alternatively, you could take another college test called the ACT, which is almost the same. When the time comes, you can decide which one you want, although the SAT is more popular on the coasts of the U.S.

Some 30 colleges require SAT 2's or subject tests that are one hour and have only one subject. They are super hard, but thankfully most people dont have to take them.

DONT WORRY ABOUT THESE THINGS! =)

  3. The PSAT is like a pretest for the SAT.  You take the PSAT usually in the 10th grade, and the results are supposed to determine how well you do on the actual SAT.

The SAT itself is a standardized exam that colleges/universities take into account when you apply.
