How old do you have to be for a helicopter pilot's license in Texas?

  1. In the United States, you can start training at any time, you may solo as a student pilot with an instructor's endorsement at 16, and you may get your private certificate at 17. It's 18 for a commercial certificate and Flight Instructor. It is the same for all states.

  2. Like Apollo said...16 to solo and 17 to get your license. You can start however early you want to, though. I started when I was 15.
