I think the legal age to start working is 16. Some special cases allow 15, but I think you have to get a workers permit from your local DMV.

Any job at the mall near my house requires you to be at least 15, but it's rare for some one short of 16 to be hired because the minor labor laws are relaxed when you turn 16. With that being said they are eliminated at 18, so most of the people who are hired are at least 18. So yeah I would guess 15, but being hired is unlikely until at least 16.

Most states require that you be at least 16-18 years of age.  In some cases you might be able to get a job when you are 14yrs. of age depending upon state laws and the company's requirements.
