How old do you have to be to adopt a child in California?

My co-worker wants to adopt a child and she 22 years-old but she sooo old she never really gose out or do anything at all!!! She interesting in adopting. But California has all these laws so you cant be sure in California?

She should consult an adoption agency in Cali for that answer or look at www.adoption.com

I'm pretty sure that if your last name starts with the letters A-F and your social security number ends with 1000-4900 then you have to be 28 but if your last name starts with G-M and your social security number ends with 6200-7559 then you have to be 33 1/2.  If you are single, then you have to add the inverse of the product of your parents' ages divided by 4 and subtract that from 149, then multiply that by 2 and and that will be the age in months in which you'll have to be in order to adopt.

But if your last name starts with W then you're just SOL.  They don't allow people whose last names start with W adopt in California.

You must really be blond to think that 22 is "sooo old"

She can check with any adoption agency or attorney, and the website that was recommended is another good place to check.

anyways, i think you can be 21 but you have to have a steady relationship because im from PA and you have to be married and i dont want to yet so im interested in over sea adoption.

It depends on the agency.  I think through the foster care system, you have to be 21.  She might want to consider fostering before she jumps into adoption.  There are lots of kids who need foster homes.
